Question:

How to configure and download from VR1710

Answer: Here are a few steps to check as a general starting point to establish communication

Has the VR1710 been in storage for some time? It might need to be plugged in for a few hours to re-charge a small “coin” battery cell inside.
Is there a recording in memory ?  Nothing will happen if the memory is empty - was it configured and left logging, it requires disconnecting and re-connecting to the supply to begin a recording.

Before you start Power Log software, can you see the VR1710 in the “ports” section of “device manager” on the PC.
It needs to be between COM3 and COM8 inclusive.

To communicate with a PC, the VR1710 would need to be plugged into a socket, if not plugged in it will appear in device manager but will not communicate.

If you have changed your version of windows you may need to update the drivers, please download the driver and Power Log software from this web page…
https://www.fluke.com/en-gb/support/software-downloads/fluke-vr1710-voltage-quality-recorder-software-downloads
Please ensure you are using Power Log “Classic”
The driver is for Windows 7 onwards.

Latest drivers are on the chip manufacturers web page (downloads tab)…
https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers
These may be unsigned.

Select the device in Power Log Classic (v4.x – VR1710 does not communicate with v5.x).
Can you send settings to the device using the VR1710 setup icon in Power Log ?

If there are still issues in communicating it may be that your VR1710 needs repair.
