Title: The coating on the 5623B cable can break if immersed in Liquid Nitrogen

Applies To: 5623B Full Immersion PRT
Problem Description: Probe cable coating cracks when flexed in Liquid Nitrogen.
Resolution/Work Around:
There is no guarantee that the cable will not crack at the low temperature of LN2. The cable is a Teflon®-jacketed cable, Teflon® insulated conductors, 24 AWG stranded, silver plated copper. The Teflon® maintains high strength, toughness and self-lubrication at low temperatures down to -268.15 °C and good flexibility at temperatures above -79 °C. During calibration of a fully immersible PRT, immersing the PRT into the LN2, try not to move the cable around. Flexing the cable at an extremely low temperature will cause small cracks in the Teflon®. After calibrating the PRT, use caution when pulling out the fully immersible PRT and cable. Allow it warm up before moving or trying to flex the cable.
