The purpose of this article is to determine when to use the study types Energy Study or the Load Study for the Fluke-1732, 1734, 1736 or 1738.
The difference between Energy Study and Load Study is the Energy Study will measure and Log the following measurements for the Fluke-1732 and 1734: Volts, Amps, Hz, Watts, VA, Var, PF, DPF, THD for Volts and Amps, Wh, Vah and Varh.

The Fluke-1736 and 1738 will measure and Log the following when in the Energy Study mode: Volts, Amps, Hz, Watts, VA, Var, PF, DPF, Voltage and Current THD, Voltage and Current Harmonics up to the 50th harmonic, Wh, Vah, Varh. The Voltage Event capturing includes Dips, Swells, Interruptions  according the EN50160 Standard.

The Inrush Current Events are based on customer setting the trigger level. The Fluke-1736 will reveal the Event Table listing the time, date, type, level and duration of the Events while the Fluke-1738 will include the Table along with the Waveform details.

The Load Study will measure and Log the following measurements for the Fluke-1732, 1734, 1736 and 1738: Amps, Hz, VA, VAh and THD for Amps.
If you just need to evaluate the Amperage measurements only the Load Study is the correct choice but if you need to do evaluate more the Energy Study is the correct choice.
