The 5522A calibrator, especially when brand new, can respond with "Error 100, Inguard not responding" when powered up for the first time and can develop "Error 104, Hardware relay trip" errors either at first use or during regular useage. Both of these errors are relatively generic and can be caused by environmental issues.
Error 100 causes:
Low line power - quite common. The limit for line power is + or - 10% of the line voltage setting in the calibrator. Pages 2-3 through 2-5 of the Operator Manual will give the user instructions on setting the correct line fuse as well as line voltage and frequency. Doing a simple test of the actual line power used is recommended prior to setting the line power in your new (or returned from service) calibrator.
Loose cable to the main board. This is something that requires servicing. This can happen on older units as well.
Main board is unseated. Like the loose cable, this is something that requires servicing.
Error 104 causes:
If your 5522A calibrator is old and has never been returned to a Fluke authorized service center it is quite possible that a crucial engineering change has not been performed. If your unit was built prior to July 2017 (don't publish until this date has been verified) you may need to return it to service.
If your unit is newer, a common cause of this error is insufficient grounding of your calibrator where it is plugged in to your facility power. Follow the safety recommendations on page 1-4 and 1-5 in the Operator Manual.
This can also be cuased by incorrect connection to a UUT or exceeding the published voltage or current limits. For additional information, see section 1 for General Specifications and section 4 on Proper connection to a UUT in the Operator Manual.
