If you have a barometer module for a 6270A, 2271A, 8270A or 8370A pressure calibrator and it cannot be selected as the ATM/barometer module then it may have a parameter set wrong. The parameter can only be read or set by remote commands directly sent to the module. It cannot be read or set when installed in a controller.

Use a PMM-CAL-KIT—20M or PMM-CAL-KIT-40M (PM module calibration kit) to communicate directly with a module.

Note that eligible barometer modules for these controllers are PM200-A100K, PM500-BA120K, PM500-A120K, PM500-A160K, PM500-A200K or BRM600-BA100K. All other modules cannot be selected as the ATM/barometer module.

Send the command "PORTS?" to the PMM (without the quotation marks, all commands/replies below are shown by quotiation marks although they are not used or included in the replies).

A. If the module is a BRM600-BA100K then the reply needs to be “R” for it to be selected as a barometer and to operate correctly in a controller. The BRM600-BA100K is unique in that it can only be used as a barometer and cannot be used as the active module (whether in Auto, Fast or Fixed mode). It's TEST and REFERENCE ports are common to each other internally.

If the reply is not “R”, then send the command “PORTS R” to set the parameter to “R”. Send the command “PORTS?” again to the module to verify that the reply is “R”

B. For all other eligible modules (PM200-A100K, PM500-BA120K, or PM500-A120K) the reply needs be "A" to be recognized for use as a barometer. When not selected as the barometer, these modules can be used like any other module.

If the reply is not “A”, then send the command “PORTS A” to set the parameter to “A”. Send the command “PORTS?” again to the module to verify that the reply is “A”

A reply of "TR" is normal for all other modules. The reply R, A or T informs the controller what type of module is present and when it is OK, and not OK, to open/close the slot's REF valve.

If the port setting is correct and an eligible module cannot be selected as the ATM/barometer module then choose some other module in Fixed mode and ensure that the pressure is vented and stable, and try again. Contact Fluke Calibration Pressure Technical Support if problems persist.
