This setup also works for an 8270A or 8370A pressure controller although if setting up as a non-Autodetect device adjust the maximum pressure values accordingly.

The 6270A pressure controller can be setup as an Autodetect device in COMPASS for Pressure v5 and higher. This is the preferred method to use a 6270A in COMPASS for Pressure. Here's a screen-shot of that (with the Autodetect button checked). Then just check the settings on the Communications tab.

Note that the highest ranged module should be in slot 1 of the 6270A controller if the version of COMPASS for Pressure is less than 5.0.50 (due to a bug in COMPASS for Pressure that is fixed in COMPASS version 5.0.50). Here's a screen-shot from the Support Device Editor for a 6270A that is setup as an Autodetect device.

If you are using IEEE/GPIB communications ensure that the Communications tab is setup like this,

And for IEEE/GPIB communications check that the settings at [Tools], <Options>, <Interface> are set like this,

Note: The option for "Clear IEEE interface before sending a new command" is not a default selection. If this is not selected have seen cases where wont produce error messages but might get barometric pressure value as the Test pressure all the time or intermittent, pressure set points might not be received, etc.

Here's a typical setup for RS232/USB Communications,

The response terminator above should match the EOL (End of Line) setting in the controller.

It's not recommended but the 6270A can also be setup as a non-Autodetect device. Instructions in the pdf file at the end of this page are screen-shots from the setup in COMPASS for Pressure. See the below pdf file for detailed instructions.

Notes: Revised October 12, 2015 to remove Ready command from 6270A and use COMPASS to determine ready. Also added Test setup information.

Revised April 27, 2018 to add the Ready command back in

Revised December 3, 2018 with sample IEEE/GPIB and RS232/USB communications screen settings, and COMPASS for Pressure v5.0.50 update information.
