The TL40 Test Lead Set has a round adjustment knob at the end of the probe to release the tension that is holding the pin stationary.
Holding the probe handle in your left hand with the tip facing upward and turning the adjustment knob counterclockwise with your right hand will release the tension.
Once the tension is released you can move the pin in or out to the length you want and then turn the knob clockwise to tighten and hold the pin stationary.
The pin is 3 inches long so you cannot extend it farther than that length.
