The Agilent DS402 is used on PG7601 systems typically whereas the DS602 is used for Flow vacuum applications up to 250slm. The pumps are very similar and setup/install process is the same:

Tools/supplies needed:

  • T20 driver
  • Small funnel
  • Needle nose plier, wire cutters, and/or flat head screwdriver

Instructions:

1. Fill pump with oil as it is shipped dry before powering on!

  1. Oil is included
  2. Using a small funnel is recommended
  3. Remove threaded cap on the oil fill port
  4. Typically only need use about ¾ of the bottle to fill to the upper marking on the sight glass. After sitting for a while it might show a little above the full indicator marking, but will come back down when in use.A close up of a machine<br><br>Description automatically generated

2.Select/verify proper voltage setting. It is normally set to 220V by default. This pump has been tested and works very well on a standard 110V outlet, so most will need to change this setting. It is a simple toggle switch selection.  

a. Remove the voltage selection warning sticker covering the electrical cord connection on the side of the electrical box

  1. b. Remove the four T20 torq screws on the top of the electrical panel (there is one on the side that should NOT be removed)

  1. c. Cover typically needs to be pried off or will take some effort
  2. d. Flip black toggle switch to proper 110V or 220V selection as shown on sticker above it

3. Install Oil Mist Trap

  1. The Mist Trap is installed on the OUT (exhaust port)
  2. Remove thick metal seal and rubber gasket that comes on this port. Use needle nose, wire cutter, or flat head screwdriver to assist as it is thick. Take caution not to cut yourself peeling it off.

   

  1. c. Install using included KF25 clamp and the centering ring/o-ring (below picture shows it only temporarily attached with yellow tape)

4. Attach the vacuum line from our interconnect kit if it was purchased using its included KF25 clamp and centering ring.

  1. The vacuum line is installed on the IN port as shown at upper right in above pic.

5. There is a gas ballast valve. It’s the large black knob shown at lower right in above pic. This is usually closed for normal operation, but it is recommended to open it and run the vacuum pump for over an hour to remove any humidity from the oil. This can be done at the same time as the first system pull down as the other new equipment will outgas more on its first pull down too. Since the pump is normally used in a humidity controlled and clean environment the ballast is then closed for normal usage. You might repeat opening it for an hour periodically over the life of the pump to help remove contaminants in the oil if desired (maybe once a year).

6. Oil changes are typically only needed every 5 years in our application since used in a humidity controlled and clean environment typically. This is ultimately determined by the end user based on usage.
