Question: Does using a USB-C flash drive increase data transfer speeds?

Yes! We recommend using a USB-C storage device over a USB-A device, which can potentially speed up data transfers by 40%

Copying data for backup off of a Fluke data logger can take awhile if a lot of data is present. The 1773, 1775, and 1777 all support the standard USB-A as well as USB-C. If you have both options available, it is preferred that use use USB-C - it can cut down on the time needed.

For comparison, we took a 1777 full of data and timed how long it took to copy everything over to a flash drive.

A USB-A flash drive took approximately 10 minutes to copy 5GB of data.
A USB-C flash drive took approximately 6 minutes to copy 5GB of data.

While 4 minutes (or 40% in this example) may not seem like much, the extra speed can help prevent unneeded downtime and get everyone back to work sooner.
