Question: How do I connect a 17xx,  43x  or   43x ii    to a PQ400 ?

Answer:

The PQ400 is designed for use with the 173x, 174x and 177x series loggers, these use current clamps with a four-pin connector.  Please note that the 1735 is an older instrument using multipole connectors and is NOT compatible with PQ400.

To use PQ400 with 43x series i or ii,   requires different cables to those supplied with PQ400 as 43x use clamps with BNC connectors (not 4 pin connectors).

PQ400 has a “basic” version, supplied without cables (window only) - PQ400/B, this is a more suitable choice if using a 43x series i or ii

Box contents of PQ400 are shown in figure 1 on page 5 of the user guide…

PQ400/B does NOT include: -
four cables (4 pin male to 4 pin male, 2m long - item 7),
set of cable markers (item 6)
set of cable ties.

17xx Outside the panel.
The standard voltage cables supplied the 17xx would be used to make the voltage connections.
Shipped with the PQ400 are four cables (4 pin male to 4 pin male, 2m long) to connect the clamp inputs on the 17xx logger to the PQ400.  To make a connection to a fifth current clamp (earth currents) would require an additional 4 pin male to 4pin male 2m cable. See the table at the end of the data sheet and at the end of this FAQ

17xx Inside the panel.
Voltage connections are made with standard panel wiring.
The current clamps supplied with the 17xx logger can be permanently fitted in the panel or additional clamps can be purchased, see table at the end of the data sheet (ref above and at the end of this FAQ).

43x outside the panel.
The standard voltage cables supplied the 43x would be used to make the voltage connections.
A 4 pin male to BNC male (2m) is required to connect from the PQ400 to each current input on the 43x, see table at the end of the data sheet (ref above and at the end of this FAQ).

43x Inside the panel.
Voltage connections are made with standard panel wiring.
The current clamps supplied with the 43x logger can be permanently fitted in the panel or additional clamps can be purchased. A 4 pin male to BNC female (0.1m) is required to connect (adapt) from the PQ400 to each clamp, see table at the end of the data sheet (ref above and at the end of this FAQ).
