Overview
To successfully run MET/CAL procedures that use the Fluke 96270A and to take full advantage of its many options used in spectrum analyzer and other RF/µW procedures, the instrument and all required options must be configured properly in both MET/CAL and MET/TEAM.
MET/CAL Configuration
Barcode
Like any MET/CAL reference, begin by entering the basic 96270A information, including the Barcode (Asset Number). The asset number must match an identical, valid entry in the database.
IEEE-488 Address
Enter the IEEE-488 Address, ensuring the value matches the setting in the 96270A GPIB Preferences. The instrument’s GPIB Personality Name should be set to 96270A and its corresponding Address & State fields set to the correct address (18, is the factory default) and Active state.
Alias
Enter any required Alias in this field. If it is necessary to execute procedures developed using older model(s) and their respective instrument FSCs, e.g., 9640A, 9640A-LPN, aliases are required and must be added. In this case, “9640”, “LPN,” or other entries are used for proper accuracy mode identification as shown below. (see the MET/CAL help system for a complete list of applicable model aliases).
Low Level µW Attenuator
If the 96270A has option (96270A/LL) installed, the matching option box must be checked.
Auxiliary Device
Next configure the Auxiliary Devices such as the 96040A-50 (50 O) or 96040A-75 (75 O) Leveling Heads, and power splitter models (11667A or 11667B). Note: Auxiliary Device configuration must include current barcodes (asset numbers) as required for procedure execution. Both models of Leveling Heads and Power Splitters may be configured simultaneously, when applicable. At least one Leveling Head is required for basic 96270A operation. When configuring the High Frequency model 96270A/HF, the addition of the 11667B model of power splitter is also required.
Basic Aux Device Configuration
All Aux Devices Configured
SENSORS 1 / SENSORS 2
If the instrument includes the 96270A/HF or 96000SNS options, the power sensor(s) must be configured prior to use. SENSORS 1 and SENSORS 2 refer to the 96270A power meter input channel assignment. In the case of the 96270A/HF option, the power sensor (Rohde & Schwarz NRP-Z55.03) is configured by selecting the sensor model from the drop-down list (SENSORS 1, in this example) and adding its barcode entry. Note that two different models of supported sensors may be configured at the same time. If the 96000SNS option (a second, R&S NRP-Z55.03 Power Sensor) is included, (SENSORS 2, in this example) it must be configured using the same method as SENSORS 1, again selecting the correct sensor model from the drop-down list and entering its asset number.
Single Power Sensor Configuration
Dual Power Sensor Configuration
Assuming the barcodes entered are identical to those in the database and their calibration status is current, the 96270A configuration in MET/CAL is complete.
MET/TEAM Configuration
Adding your 96270A to MET/TEAM requires creating the 96270A Type and Asset records as well as a Scheduled Service to show that the reference is in calibration.
Type
Log into your MET/TEAM webpage:
Click on the Maintenance tab, then select “Type”:
On the Find Type Screen, search for an existing Type for the 96270A. If one already exists, select it and skip to the “Asset Record” section.
Click “Add” on the Find Type screen. This will open the “Add Type” screen.
Add the Description (RF Reference, for example), Model Number (96270A) and Manufacturer (Fluke). You can enter any other Type details pertinent to your database and click the Save icon.
Save and “Close” the Add Type screen.
Asset and Scheduled Service
Now we need to add this specific 96270A asset to MET/TEAM. To add an Asset, look at the “Add an Asset” in this article. This article includes instructions on how to create a Scheduled Service, which is required before using this reference with MET/CAL.
Final Steps to Calibrate your DUT
Now that we have added the 96270A asset to MET/TEAM, we can receive the DUT Asset and open a Work Order. This process will allow you to run the PXE Procedure you associated to the Type in MET/TEAM. To learn how to receive an Asset, review this article.
After creating the Type and Asset for the 96270A, and DUT Work Order you are ready to "Run" your DUT procedure with MET/CAL Runtime.
