The purpose of this article is to verify the USB driver has installed on the computer when connecting one of the Fluke 430 Series II instruments.

1. Turn on the Fluke instrument by pushing the green button.
2. Attach the USB cable to the Fluke instrument and the other end to a 2.0 USB port on the PC. Do not use a USB 3.0, if you have a 3.0 USB port and try to use the Fluke instrument it can get locked up and you may have to send it into the Fluke service center for repair.
Here is a picture of a 2.0 USB port and a 3.0 USB port.

3. Verify if the USB driver has been installed by using the computer's Device Manager.
4. Once in the Device Manager if the driver has been installed completely the Fluke instrument should show up in two locations Universal Serial Ports and Ports (Com & LTP) directories.

Note the Com port assignment number in the Ports directory could be used in the future if you upgrade the firmware in the meter. See the picture as an example of the Device Manager and both the Universal Serial Ports and Ports (Com & LTP) directories identify the Fluke instrument.
