Resolving SMFT-1000 Detection Issues on Windows
If your PC does not recognize the SMFT-1000 when connected, this guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Requirements
Administrative rights on your Windows PC.
The SMFT-1000 is powered and set to “Menu” on the rotary dial.
Instructions
Step 1: Install the Fluke IR189USB USB Cable Adapter Driver
Run the installer with administrative rights and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 2: Verify the Driver Installation
After installation, ensure the driver is correctly recognized by your system.
Open the Device Manager on your Windows PC.
Check for a USB Serial Port entry under Ports (COM & LPT).
The driver provider listed in the device's properties should be FTDI.
Step 3: Restart Your PC
A system restart can help finalize the installation process.
Save any open work and close all applications.
Restart your PC to apply the new driver settings.
Step 4: Attempt Firmware Update
- With the driver installed and the PC restarted, update the firmware using the TruTest software.
Additional Tips
Double-check the USB connection if the device is still not recognized.
Ensure the SMFT-1000 is correctly powered and set to the appropriate mode.
