Question: What is the regional compatibility of a 6000 series Portable Appliance Tester.

Answer: There are limitations to the display language and the supply frequency.

There are four different versions of 6500-2, each tuned to the requirements of the following countries: Germany, Netherlands, Australia and UK/Ireland. The instrument hardware (socket & keypad) is the same on all versions.  It is not possible to change the display language, this fixed in the firmware to match the hardware.

For safety reasons the tester will examine the supply it is connected to, checking voltage levels (Neutral to Earth etc.) and frequency.  In the regions that the tester is sold, the supply frequency is 50 Hz and the specified tolerance is ±2 Hz.  Users may encounter problems when powering from a generator and the tester will not operate on 60 Hz.

The 6200, 6500 & 6200-2 will not operate on 110V.
The 6500-2 will operate on 230V, 110V and 110V "site safety supplies"  (ie. 110V derived from 55V - 0V - 55V)
